Anambra Government has said that private sector investment in housing was crucial for the success of its plans to provide shelter for the people of the state.
The Deputy Governor, Dr Nkem Okeke, said this at the inauguration of four blocks of flats built by a developer, Chief Hyginus Igwebuike, in Awka on Saturday.
“As you are aware, the government of Chief Willie Obiano has just flagged of a massive housing programme in its bid to meet the rising accommodation demand in the state.
“We appreciate private sector interventions like what Chief Igwebuike is doing today. It will go a long way in complementing the efforts of the government.
“Government is using this opportunity to invite private investors in the sector as government is ready to provide the enabling environment that will make such project to succeed,’’ he said
Well, bravo! to our able governor, we do appreciate your legacy, whatever a man does or fails to do he shall forever remembered for. However, one major thing I wish you do is draw a plan how best you want the state to look like present into future. God says a vision must first be written so whoever reads can run along with. One major issue in Africa setting is we don't plan deeper tomorrow - today. You are a very wiseman and I am sure you decode my point and enlarge it. Dubai, a man sat down and drew what has come to be one of the best cities in the world. Please, deep more into your great potential wisdom and give us great plan, we don't want manageable but the very best, get the best town planners, architects; we have to have industrial zone, draw good road network, housing plans, our people must stop building anyhow, we must set standards and let the world see and emulate. You can use googleeath to start with, you can call it the Anambran vision, then you will see people will build on the vision, you got great sons and daughters, just set the pace on view and attractive, I bate you investors will storm your guest house. The rice plan is great, (hope it comprises with its processing plants) and your target sir should be to feed the world, so think bigger in all your projects and vision. If our ancestors, the great pharaohs of Egypt over 4000yrs thought as big as pyramids, we can do better. I know you have what it takes thus we count much on you sir.
